PERTHSHIRE ART ASSOCIATION 71ST WINTER EXHIBITION

November 10th – December 9th 2023

Once again we were able to hold our winter exhibition in The Fergusson Gallery which had been closed since the PAA exhibited there in 2022. Perth Art Gallery Curator Amy Fairlie collaborated with PAA President Philip Edwards in selecting some of J D Fergusson’s works (which are currently awaiting a new permanent home in PAG), to display in the space which PAA would normally reserve for a guest artist. Both parties felt that this was a mutually beneficial arrangement.

The PAA entrants numbered 46 and a total of 77 works covering a wide spectrum of styles and subject matter, including several 3D pieces were submitted. The works of the two Rotary Club of Perth Kinnoull Young Artist Awards prize winners and two runners-up are also displayed.

The Opening Event on the evening of 9th November was well attended and President Philip Edwards introduced Amy Fairlie from Perth Art Gallery as invited guest to officially open the exhibition and present trophies/prizes to the winners of the various categories.

Allen Perera-Liyanage also offered a brief tribute to the late Cameron Coutts who had been a long standing and well known member of the association.

The Prize Winners were as follows:

The Stella Cormie Award for Figure, Portrait or Animal Study – LOLA by Lottie Waite

Allan Perera-Liyanage trophy for Watercolour – WINTER PANSIES by Sheila Garden

Dunsire Trophy for a Still Life – GREEN VASE by Maggie Wallace

The Rodger Prize for a Perthshire Painting – KINNOULL DAWN by Chris Kirk

The Lisbeth Gallacher Bowl for a Floral Painting – CLEMATIS by Ian Dunsire

The PAA Committee would like to thank all members of staff from Perth Art Gallery who participated in helping to organise, hang and display the work and to all the PAA members who volunteered to invigilate at the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
