It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Ian Dunsire, a former President of The Perthshire Art Association. Ian had always been an active member and talented artist and was President from 2019-2023.
Watercolour was his preferred medium and he enjoyed using his architectural skills in creating works that were both full of accuracy but also vibrant in colour and tone.
I remember attending a workshop that Ian gave some time ago on the subject of perspective. Here he was in his element and armed with a pencil and sheet of A4, he was able to show the benefit of sound perspective in his art.
Ian was very much a ‘hands on’ President and was very supportive of various roles within the Association. One such task was his involvement in finding a new exhibition space for the Association following changes in the local Council and former museum and art gallery. This he achieved through diplomacy and support.
Throughout his time in the Association Ian was always ably assisted by his charming wife Ruth and together they made a formidable team. I think it is true to say that the Association and its members benefitted greatly by their efforts and he will be much missed.
