Evening Lectures and Workshops

We host evening demonstrations / lectures from well known guest artists which cover a variety of subjects. We also hold workshops which are run by guest artists for those of you who want to get their hands dirty.

Demonstrations / Lectures

These evenings are free to current paid-up members of the Association and open to non-members on payment of £5.00 on the door. They are held in the Lecture Theatre, Perth Museum and Art Gallery, 78 George Street, Perth PH1 5LB, commencing at 7.30pm and finishing by 9.30pm.  Teas and coffees are served mid-way through the evening, with nominal charge of £1.00 per cup.

Wheelchair accessible and induction loop operational.

Workshops

FEE PER WORKSHOP:  Member – £15.00    Non-member – £20.00

Workshops are from 10am – 2.30pm, with half an hour for lunch. Please bring your own lunch. Teas, coffees and biscuits are provided and there are good kitchen facilities if needed.

They are held at The Scout Hall, Perth Academy, Oakbank Crescent, Perth. (Just inside the academy carpark main entrance)

FIGURE DRAWING

Douglas is no stranger to the PAA classes and workshops, and this evening he will demonstrate the ‘do’s and don’ts  of how to achieve a decent figure sketch. There will  be a clothed model.

MARTIN HILL

EXPRESSIVE OIL PAINTING

Martin studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and was awarded the 2009 Barns-Graham Travel Award, facilitating a trip to Greece. Martin also participated in the 184th RSA Annual Exhibition in 2010.

In this demonstration he will show his wet-on-wet painting technique which is characterised  by his loose handling of paint and expressive brush work.

MARK HOLDEN

IMPRESSIONISM

Glasgow born Mark, is a professional artist based in the East Neuk of Fife and in Inverness. Although his principal medium is Oil, Mark has enjoyed, more recently working  in Acrylics and Watercolour in an “impressionistic” style.

PAT HOLLAND

CRIT NIGHT

This is always a popular event where members bring their paintings for some ‘constructive’ criticism.

Pat paints in oils, taking much of her inspiration from her local landscape.  Her work ranges from tranquil to vibrant, working mainly with a palette knife. Pat lives and works in the hamlet of Giffordtown in the Howe of Fife with her husband Ian Ledward, also an artist.

Enter by the School car park at the top of Murray Place. The Scout Hall is on the right, past the  Janitor’s House.  There is disabled parking only, directly outside the hall.  Cars can be driven to the entrance to unload, but must be parked elsewhere. There is plenty of street parking surrounding the school.
